Rosacea

Rosacea is a common & complex auto-inflammatory skin condition that has numerous symptoms and different levels of diagnosis. Symptoms can be as mild as flushing and as intense as swelling, burning and stinging, which can include bumps and pimples. Normally affecting the cheeks, nose & chin &/or forehead.
It tends to flare up when aggravated, triggered by alcohol consumption, UV, cold & wind, stress, strenuous exercise, spicy foods & hot drinks.
It’s more common in females than in males, although it usually effects men more seriously. There are many theories, but the cause of Rosacea is not understood. Some theories are it is an inherited disorder, due to frequent blushing, demodex mite a parasite that lives in the follicle and feeds on sebum. Whatever the cause we can help to manage the condition with a good homecare plan & insalon treatments.

Treatment for Rosacea

Treatment includes homecare to repair the skins natural barrier function and protect it from the environment. An SPF is critical for rosacea skin since UV is one of the main trigger factors.
Clinic treatments such as LED phototherapy have an anti-inflammatory healing effect in a non stimulating way. These are recommended 2 per week for 6 weeks for best results.
As Rosacea is a complex condition the home care recommendations vary from person to person and will depend on which type of Rosacea is present.
